Up To 10k #4

#UpTo10k is a new #ParkLives #running session that is aimed at graduates of #Cto5k groups who would like to progress to the 10k mark and enter a race at the end of the 8 week course.

We will be based at Chamberlayne Leisure Centre and run every Monday evening at 6.30pm.  The first few weeks will be around an hour in duration, and then in the second half of the course we will be running for up to 1.5 hours!  The weekly sessions will focus on different running techniques to improve stamina, speed and form.  We encourage all participants to sign up for the Netley 10k race (Royal Victoria Country Park) on Sunday 19 May after the first week of the course (as spaces are limited).  Running a race is not as scary as you may think.  It is an exciting experience where you can run shoulder to shoulder with other athletes running the course; our Session Leader/s will be running with you.

Due to the fact that these sessions will progress at a steady rate we will abide to UK Athletics rules as well as our Session Leaders’ guidelines:

Weeks 1 & 2 will be limited to 6k (Children aged 11-14 can participate if they are able to run 5k in less than 45 minutes.  Adults will also need to be able to run 5k in less than 45 minutes)

Weeks 3 – 8 will be over 6k and up to 10k (Children under 15 cannot participate.  Children aged 15-17 must be evaluated by our Session Leader on a regular basis)
