Be Active Swansea
ParkLives Swansea has arrived!
ParkLives, the programme offering free activity sessions in local parks, launched in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot in May 2016, giving locals the chance to join thousands of people across the UK taking part in free and fun outdoor activity sessions. Bridgend have also joined the team launching in July 2017.
The Swansea programme will be led by Swansea Council’s Sport and Health team along with Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend Sports Departments and external providers, with activities being delivered across the three counties.
Sessions will include everything from mountain boarding to walks in the Gower, skate, circuits, parkour, yoga and tai chi. What’s more, ParkLives activity sessions won’t cost local people a thing, proving that being active doesn’t need to be expensive.
ParkLives will highlight the important role of local parks as free and easily accessible social hubs of activity in local communities, and bring in the insight and expertise of upskilled local session leaders and volunteers.
Swansea’s ParkLives programme includes a range of fun and informal activity sessions designed to be welcoming for people of all ages and abilities. The programme is currently taking place in a number of community parks and green spaces including Victoria Park, Brynmill Park, Singleton Park, Newbridge Fields, Bryngarw Country Park, Margam Country Park, Gnoll Park as well as along the Aberavon and Swansea Bay Foreshores.
